Background
Travel Counsellors is a global community of over 2,200 independent travel professionals. As part of its annual programme of events, the company brings together its UK and international teams for a series of conferences designed to inspire, connect and strengthen its community.
The Brief
Each year, the client requires a central, flexible and accessible venue in Birmingham to host a large-scale corporate conference for business audiences.. The venue needed to provide a main plenary space, breakout areas and a mini-exhibition for client partners, alongside plenty of opportunity for networking.
In addition, the client also needed a central venue to host its smaller “TC Together” mini-conferences throughout the year.
Delivery
The Vox proved to be the ideal setting for both the flagship corporate conference in March and the “TC Together” mini-conferences in May, thanks to its lakeside location, natural light and excellent transport links just minutes from Birmingham International rail station.
For the corporate conference, Travel Counsellors used Vox Halls 4-5 in cabaret layout (26 tables, 182 seats) for the main plenary, Vox Halls 1-3 for networking, and the Lakeside Foyer for catering and additional delegate interaction.
For the TC Together series, the team made use of Vox Halls 3-5 in cabaret layout (147 seats) as the main plenary, with Vox Halls 1-2 for the client partner expo, and the Lakeside Foyer once again providing a light and welcoming space for catering and networking.
Delegates also benefitted from the Vox’s adaptable spaces and full F&B offer, including coffee and pastry breaks, buffet-style lunches with desserts, and time to step outside for a walk around the lake.
Outcome
Both events were a clear success, with feedback praising the Vox’s light and airy atmosphere, versatility and easy transport access – critical for maximising attendance from across the UK and overseas. The conferences strengthened Travel Counsellors’ community and demonstrated the Vox’s flexibility in delivering both large-scale and more intimate event formats.
