Background
Nasen (the National Association for Special Educational Needs) supports and champions those working with and caring for children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). Each year, nasen Live brings together parents, carers and educators for a full day of CPD, learning and inspiration, alongside an exhibition showcasing the latest resources, tools and innovations in the sector.
The Brief
As a long-standing client of over four years, nasen required a modern, accessible and purpose-built venue that could host both its nasen Live conference and exhibition, and its nasen Awards — celebrating excellence and innovation in the SEND community. The brief called for flexible layouts, seamless AV support, strong transport links and a welcoming, contemporary atmosphere that reflected nasen’s professional yet inclusive ethos.
Delivery
The Vox provided the ideal setting for both events, combining style, practicality and atmosphere.
For nasen Live, the event made full use of the Vox’s flexible spaces: the Forum hosted a bustling exhibition area with over 60 exhibitors and book signings, while Vox 4 and 5 served as seminar rooms, with Vox 1 and 2 offering additional breakout spaces for workshops and CPD sessions. The lighting was tailored to complement nasen’s branding, creating a cohesive and polished look throughout.
The nasen Awards, held at the Vox for the first time this year, transformed the venue into an elegant evening setting. With Vox 3, 4 and 5 opened up to create a single space for 350 guests, the bi-fold doors adding a real ‘wow’ factor. Guests enjoyed a sit-down three-course meal, designed by chef Aaron Johnson, with inclusive menu options that catered to all tastes. The in-house AV team ensured everything ran seamlessly — a key reassurance for the nasen team.
Outcome
Both events were hailed as a success, with glowing feedback on the Vox’s professional yet welcoming feel, convenient location and stunning setup. Delegates praised the modern, light-filled environment and ease of access to the NEC campus, while nasen described the Vox as the perfect home for their events — a custom-built space that delivers year after year.
